Who are the Muslim Brotherhood?

And is it possible for Western countries talk with them?

The Brotherhood had its birth in 1928. It combined nationalism and anticolonialism.  In late 1948, the Brotherhood assassinated Egypt’s Prime Minister, and in the 1950s, Sayyid Qutb, came up with an ideology of jihad against non-Islamic entities. Qutb fell afoul of the popular and secular regime of Gamal Abdel Nasser, who had him executed in 1966.  The government persecution of the Brotherhood continued under Nasser’s successors, Anwar Sadat and Mubarak.

The pressure changed the Brotherhood, and by the 1980s, though still banned, it started to professing nonviolent opposition to the regime.  It channeled its energies into social reform and education. “The Muslim Brotherhood takes Islam as a template, but we don’t have a religious state or God-ordained rule,” says Ibrahim Zakaria, a Brotherhood official and former member of parliament. “We believe in democracy and all its rules. We believe in the principle that the people are the origin and source of sovereignty and that the people choose their leaders in free and secret ballots.”

Inside the Brotherhood’s there’s not only this reformed and democratic modern awareness.  There is still intolerance, as some members indeed do. Speaking of the Brothers, Osama Hussein Hafiz, a 40-year-old lawyer, says, “Some of them are very good, and some of them, I’m not so sure about. Just like any party, there is good and bad in it.” As Hassan sees it, “the main goal of the Brotherhood is to raise individual Muslims” — with emphasis on individual.

As open movement aimed to improve a Brotherhood of East and West, we believe that the Muslim Brotherhood is a positive force to create dialogue on a mystical level, we mean in the Spirit of common study of common roots, which are in the Holy Qur’an and in the Evangelii Gloria and in the Torah ha-Qadosh.  We believe that it is possible to study all this in special rooms organized as Private Library, and we claim our project is open to improve dialogue and understanding among people of different religions and culture, because God is One, the Light is One and we may share all this for a common awareness, the wake up of a new Golden Dawn for the Whole World Wide.

Looking from the perspective of emancipation, we note as the World is going to openness: this is the reason why the drake of obscurantism is moving as a fool…

Writing this, as organization involved in transforming secret in openness [in that strange world which is initiation’s experience], we want to underline that next April the Sun, Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, Uranus and – since the 21th – Venus, will be aligned in Aries against the old judge, Saturn in Libra.

You may or may not believe in astrological correspondences and other kind of signs, but what we are really talking about is that world needs to change, while the old obscurantist wants to hold their power in the old way…
