The Golden Dawn

Definitions: see the Wikipedia entry.

To contend the legitimate inheritance of tradition that emanates from the historic Golden Dawn (the one that is founded by William Robert Woodman, William Wynn Westcott and Samuel Liddell MacGregor Mathers and had begun among its characters such as William Butler Yeats, Arthur Machen, Edward Waite, Aleister Crowley) there is a multitude of subjects.

This page (as they say in language “Wiki”) tends to play a “disambiguation”, ie clarification of the nature of many streams. Since the terrain is extremely varied esoteric philosophies and layered does not claim (and do not want to get) an exhaustive list (nor, still less a kind of telephone directory) from the different organizations. Seeks rather to give an indication of the current most significant in the contemporary world and give the reader the possibility of cognition of the main characteristics that distinguish them.

These include:

Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn

The Temple is currently chaired by G.H. and Fr. Lvx et Septentrionis (David Griffin), with an European window held by Fr. Lux Aurora (Jean-Pascal Ruggiu). The reference center is Ahathoor Temple No. 7 in Paris. This is a current traditionalist, forged on Rosicrucianism, esoteric Christian inspiration. Does not recognize the tradition of crowleyian (Thelemic) heritage, dismissing as A.A.

Esoteric Order of the Golden Dawn

This movement (which has several temples and shrines in Europe and America) is Fr. Pro Deo et Rege (Robert Zink).  The interpretation of the heritage is on a Christian esotericism line.  Sometimes has been indicated by other groups for too much being interested in composing a brand.

The Open Source Order of the Golden Dawn

American current forged by Fr. I.O. (S.W.), inheritor of the C.C. (collaborator of Fr. A.M.G.D.) lineage, on the assumption that the great reform effected by Aleister Crowley and Israel Regardie has in itself the content of full initiation to all those sources are able to receive the light. The evolution of Internet technology has now a prerequisite to give effect to this possibility: in this sense, the Order stands as a source open source (Open Source) and transposes the idea of lighting on a plan entirely new, in line with the Modern World (New Aeon). The Order is based in America, with matches in Europe.

The Universal Order of the Morning Star
comes from this last root, in the early works being the European side of the American Open Source movement. Because of special reasons, the movement took its independent position since Equinox 2011. See the books The Open Golden Dawn and The Morning Star to know about the whole history.

For more information about groups and currents, a good review article is given by:

Review of Contemporary Golden Dawn Groups.

Refined and very through on the tradition of the Golden Dawn the site GYLLENE GRYNINGEN (Tomas Stacewicz) that, since the logo chosen for his site, refers to the Jewish tradition from which it follows the Golden Dawn (the lodge Chabrah Zerech Boqer Avr, whose roots are highly controversial and debated, especially in such relationships to be understood by the Catholic tradition of esoteric Rosicrucian matrix). The subject is extremely interesting, and we, with our magazine Magica Europe, we worked on these issues and formulated, if not an answer, certainly a vision.

Finally, in Greece there is a group of extreme right (Χρυσή Αυγή, Chrysi Avyi, “Golden Dawn”) that has nothing to do with the ideals of enlightenment and empowerment that are proper historically and with the Order of the Golden Dawn Initiate, especially the  thelemic and open source components.
